Tourism Malaysia's Fam Trip From The Netherlands Is Back To Malaysia
Kuala Lumpur, 21 November 2022 – Tourism Malaysia is taking media from the Dutch market on its familiarisation (FAM) trip to promote Malaysia as a safe holiday destination and welcome more international travellers.
A total of six media aboard Turkish Airlines from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur for an eight-day seven-night (8D7N) trip in collaboration with Turkish Airlines and Sabah Tourism Board from 14th November to 21st November 2022. Turkish Airlines serves daily five direct flights from Amsterdam to Istanbul and ten flights per week between Istanbul and Kuala Lumpur.
Malaysia is a multicultural country with a tropical climate that offers everything from a pulsating metropolis to fantastic nature and wonderful beaches. It is therefore an ideal travel destination for tourists from Europe, including the Netherlands.
The press trip started off with a Full Day Guided Experience Kuala Lumpur Tour, whereby several attractions were highlighted including the iconic Petronas Twin Towers, Merdeka Square, Masjid Negara, Thean Hou Temple, Batu Caves, Central Market Kuala Lumpur & Perdana Botanical Garden. In the evening the participants had the opportunity to experience the food market at Jalan Alor.
The next day, the group boarded an early flight to Kota Kinabalu where Sabah Tourism Board hosted the group. The program in Sabah included a river cruise at KLIAS, a Mangrove Forest Reserve. With the bizarre-looking proboscis monkey gaining as much popularity as the orangutan, the Klias Wetland with its large population of this wildlife is fast becoming the latest ecotourism destination in Sabah.
The media also followed a traditional cooking class at Kiulu Farmstay, where they could experience Borneo's Rustic Countryside, a unique and completely off-the-tourist radar experience. This beautiful farmstay is a community-based ecotourism project that acts as a catalyst for community development and capacity building. Tucked away in a beautiful valley with a selection of activities offered. Other activities included in the itinerary were leisure & fun cycling through Linangkit Cultural Village and recreational activities at Bunga Raya Island Resort.
Tourism Malaysia’s fam trips are tailored to offer international media valuable opportunities to gain first-hand experience of travelling to Malaysia in the post-pandemic. This programme will support Malaysia’s target of achieving 9.2 million tourist arrivals and RM 26.8 billion in tourist spending.
Malaysia only recorded 466 Dutch tourists in 2021, compared to the same period in 2019, with a total of 82,110 Dutch visiting Malaysia. We hope that this programme will motivate our industry friends to come back stronger in reviving the tourism industry said Dato’ Haji Zainuddin.
